Adrien Geiger
As Group Sustainability Officer and Director of the L’OCCITANE en Provence brand, Adrien Geiger is a daily advocate for the power of nature. He is an active member of the One Planet Business for Biodiversity (OP2B) coalition and supports the L’OCCITANE Group brands around the world in their commitment to regenerate biodiversity and develop the regions in which they operate. Formerly competing as an elite athlete, Adrien studied Engineering at the University of Oxford and has always been fascinated by sustainable development. He began his career at EDF, where he spent three years working on renewable energy. After graduating from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with an MBA, he joined the family business L’OCCITANE Group – which had grown into a global group – with a strong sense of entrepreneurship.
Initially based in London, he first led product development and then the Group’s digital arm, becoming Chief Digital Officer in 2014. He completely revamped the L’OCCITANE en Provence brand’s e-commerce strategy & this success propelled him into the roles of first Chief Customer Experience Officer and then Chief Growth Officer, before taking on the overall management of the brand at group level. In early 2020, Adrien officially took the reins as Group Sustainability Officer, in which he ambitiously leads all the Group’s sustainable development operations and initiatives. Since 1976, the Group has been evolving in a way that fosters respect between women, men, nature and the land, and for more than ten years it has been working actively to reduce its footprint through measures such as in-store recycling, increasing use of recycled materials, reducing packaging thickness and environmentally friendly refill options.
Adrien firmly believes that internal and external innovation are key and has forged a partnership between L’OCCITANE and Plastic Odyssey, a research project on the circular economy that turns used plastics into useful objects or energy using simple, low-tech, open-source technologies. This next-generation leader is committed to L’OCCITANE’s family and business values and is convinced that firms have a pivotal role to play in developing solutions for the planet beyond merely reducing their own impact. Alongside the Group’s staff and its 15,000 producers, Adrien brings energetic, ambitious and unassuming leadership to projects seeking to safeguard our natural heritage and regenerate biodiversity.
